My name is Scott Norris. I am a husband to my wife Courtney and father to our three adult children. At age 40, I decided that I needed a career change. I left my corporate job and began working with students with Autism for a non-profit. I then moved to working with emotionally disturbed students in a behavior unit for a local elementary school as an education assistant. While completing my degree, I worked as an elementary school Head Custodian and have been a second grade teacher there ever since. In addition, I am the Head Coach for Varsity Boys Soccer and Assistant Coach of Boys Track at a local high school.
Through my years of working with at risk and special education students, I have found that so many of our young people get lost in the system and do not feel they have options. I want to help those students feel more confident and feel that they too have an opportunity to be successful.
I have been an avid auto enthusiast for as long as I can remember. Over the years, I have owned several Mustangs and Jeep Wranglers. I have always had a strong interest in modifying, painting, and customizing my vehicles. I have enjoyed being a part of auto communities that support and provide insights in to designs and builds.
I take my knowledge and love for auto customization and provide mentorship for students and young adults who normally would not have the opportunity to develop auto repair and customization skills.
Periodically, we will attend auto shows to provide an opportunity for students to display their work and communicate with spectators about the project. This will provide an opportunity for students to develop important communication skills and build confidence. The funds from automobiles sold by the non-profit will be used to fund future projects and further support students.
